We recently went on an appliance buying binge and now have a wonderful new washer and dryer, dishwasher, and fridge. The house didn't come with a washer and dryer; we found out that the existing dishwasher didn't actually wash dishes, and the fridge was an old clunker. (Our new fridge uses less than half the electricity of the old one. Ahh the wonders of energy star.) The installation costs for the dishwasher seemed a bit outrageous, considering the other installations were free, so I (Scott) decided to try the installation myself. Or, at least start the process myself. (A big thanks to Josh for helping with the install!)
Removing the old clunker:
It's amazing what surprises lurk in the hidden depths of the house. A picture of the vinyl that was underneath the dishwasher, and presumably under the existing floor as well. Maybe we'll give the previous owner the benefit of the doubt and say that this was just a scrap of something that he had lying around, but that just leads to asking where the original was.

Gotta love discovering how many patterns of vinyl existed. I think we found four or five layers in our basement. :) Oh, and a dishwasher that actually cleans dishes sounds like a vast improvement. Congrats on doing the install yourselves!
New appliances are so wonderful...makes me giddy! Hope you are enjoying your new house :)
Looks great! Love your kitchen cabinets. So sleek and modern! Congrats on the house.
